Organ Meats: A Beginners Guide For Children
As the goodness of organs meats and the potential health benefits that they offer become more mainstream we’re increasingly asked this question …
… are organ meats safe for children to eat?
The answer is a resounding yes! Our organic grass-fed beef organs are simply real food with no hidden ingredients of any kind and offer a wide range of critical nutrients that the whole family can enjoy.
As a parent it’s important to know that your child is receiving the fundamental nourishment that they need to thrive. This is especially important at a time when children’s food options (which are often little more than nutrient-deficient party foods) commonly contain hidden sugars, flavours, colours and preservatives.
Did you know that organ meats offer THE most concentrated source of just about every nutrient, including vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and essential amino acids. They are more nutrient dense than just about any other human food, including the veggies that we tell our kids they need to eat to grow up to be big and strong!
Key Nutrients For Growing Bodies
As an example, liver contains more B12 (one of the most essential vitamins, helping the body convert food into energy) than any other food source. In addition, liver contains vitamins A,D,E & K amongst others together with a wide range of minerals to support the healthy development for growing bodies.
Fun Fact: Organ meats are uniquely rich in several different forms of vitamin K2, a nutrient that was previously known as “Activator X” for its ability to activate bone and teeth development. A common benefit of adequate levels of K2 is ... perfect teeth.
How To Feed Your Kids Organ Meats
As a general rule we recommend 1 capsule for every 10kg (or less) of body weight and advise starting on just a single capsule per day for the first week to ensure tolerability. After that you can increase the capsules based on your child’s weight. Opening up the capsules and sprinkling the contents into your child’s favourite food works really well or simply mix into a smoothie.
If you’re wondering which products to start with, we suggest Primal Energy as beef liver is a powerhouse of nutrients to support the nutritional requirements of active, growing bodies.
